Moore Creek Park Opening June 30, 2013
Napa County's first new regional park is about to open. Volunteers will construct new trails June 29th and 30th, then officially open the park at 1 pm on Sunday, June 30th.
Moore Creek Park contains 673 acres of open space, protecting 3 miles of Moore Creek, a year-round stream to flows into Lake Hennessey. Moore Creek Park includes everything from creekside alders to hillside Douglas Fir, Madrone, Gray Pine, and a variety of native oaks, to chaparral and open grassy hillsides. It will open with 5 miles of trails for hiking, mountain bicycling and horseback riding, which will eventually expand to more than 12 miles of trails. Go to http://v-o-cal.org/projects/2013/moorecreek-2013.html to sign up to volunteer that weekend, or just come at 1pm for the brief ceremony and an afternoon of exploring.
