Volunteer Weekends at Moore Creek
Join a fun group of volunteers the second weekend of each month at Moore Creek.
The District owns 673 acres of open space in the Moore Creek watershed, immediately north of Lake Hennessey. The property protects 3 miles of perennial creek that is a major source of drinking water for the City of Napa. Nearly six miles of trails for hiking, mountain bicycling and horseback riding are planned, as well as opportunities for picnicking and camping.
The second weekend of each month, volunteers converge on Moore Creek to help get the property ready to open as a public park. Each month is a different project, ranging from trail construction, fence and gate work, habitat restoration, demolition, cleanup, building repairs and more. Some volunteers come just for Saturday, Sunday, or both days, and some stay over Friday and/or Saturday night. Great meals are provided free. Overnighters can use the ranch house beds or bring a tent and sleep outdoors. To find out more, use the Volunteer Sign-Up tab at the top of the page, or call Chino at 707-337-3885.
